The white rum originates from the Caribbean island of Barbados, where the rum has a lighter and more delicate taste than other types of rum and also has underlying notes of sugar cane and butter. The first step in the production of Malibu is to extract syrup from sugar cane. The syrup is what is left after the cane juice has been heated in the manufacture of cane sugar. This syrup is mixed with water and yeast and then fermented into alcohol. The fermented syrup is distilled three times in specially made stills at the distillery in Black Rock, which is located in Barbados. The result is a light, delicate and smooth white rum that is mixed with natural coconut, mango or coconut and banana and sugar to produce the world's most famous rum with an exotic taste.
