Description
Caol Ila is the Gaelic name for the "Sound of Islay", which separates the island from Jura in one of the most remote and beautiful corners of Scotland's west coast. The distillery is located on the banks of the Sound, a site originally chosen in 1846 partly because of the clean waters of Loch Nam Ban, which still provides its largest supply. When you sniff the air over a glass of Caol Ila, it reminds you of sea-fresh aromas. The taste is sweet at first with a pleasant, lightly scented smokiness and a long finish. Smooth, pleasant mouthfeel with hints of smoke.
